







3) Nominations
a. The nominator must provide:
i. The Title, Name of Author, and Name of Publisher of the nominated work
ii. The Nominator’s name, email address, and contact information
iii. The Nominator’s age; the nominator must be older than twelve years.
b. A novel may not be nominated by the novel’s author, publisher or publisher’s employee, or any other party who has a monetary interest in the work.
c. Nominations may be sent to the Whitney Awards Committee by mail or electronically.
d. Nominations may be made any time before December 31st of the award year.
e. The nominator may nominate each novel only once
f. After January 1st of the year following the award year, any novel which received five or more nominations will be placed on the Preliminary Awards Ballot.
g. The Awards Committee may switch novels into different awards categories if the majority of the committee feels the novel has been wrongly classified
h. Before they vote, the Awards Committee may add one overlooked novel to each category’s list of nominees
i. All members of the Whitney Awards Committee will receive a Preliminary Awards Ballot. Committee members will vote for five nominees in each award category. The five nominees in each category that receive the most votes will become the Category Finalists.
j. The Preliminary Awards Ballots and all other nominee and nominator information are to remain private within the Whitney Awards Committee. However, Committee members are encouraged to thoughtfully discuss the nominated novels before casting their Preliminary Ballots.
k. The Whitney Awards Committee will oversee all ballot tabulations
